VBM
Management & Promotions (VBM M&P) is
proud to announce the long awaited release of a brand new fourteen
track CD by Rachel Innes.
‘Live and in the Studio’, on VBM
Music, follows Rachel’s critically acclaimed debut
‘Open Face’, and has been released on
the request of Rachel’s fans before the release, later this
year, of Rachel’s all-new studio set, ‘Exquisite’.
‘Live and in the Studio’ brings together
three recent strands of Rachel’s work. There’s a trio
of tracks produced by Alan Scott, whose credits include artists as
diverse as Eliza Carthy, Asian Dub Foundation, Levellers, Oyster Band
and Electric Soft Parade.
On the ‘live’ front there’s a number of tracks
drawn from a recent sell-out performance at Sussex Arts Club.
The tracks feature vocals and piano only, both courtesy of Rachel.
Plus, ‘Live and in the Studio’ features
four of Rachel’s favourite tracks from ‘Open Face’.
Here’s what Rachel has to say about
her new 14 track collection:
“’Live and in the Studio’ is about
the power of man's desire, the attraction of danger, the acquisition
of greed and the hunger for love. This album is for anyone who sees
so much more than the daily grind and dares to dream outside the box.
”The songs on ‘Live and in the Studio’
were chosen to reflect the times we live in and to mix the
fact and the fiction, are there any parallels?
“I chose to include live tracks such as ‘Angels
Weep’ because I believe there is a magic in a live
performance that can't be captured in a studio.
"At this time lots of us were angry and questioning of the Iraq
war, from which I drew inspiration for the song.
"When I played ‘Angels Weep’ live
at the piano, I could feel the emotion of the audience which I believe
is captured in this recording.
“Other featured tracks like ‘Electric Girl’
were inspired by visiting the Star Trek Experience, in Las Vegas and
listening to a dance music instrumental arrangement of a track called
‘Space Girl’, by composer Mike Bell.
“A space version of Lara Croft emerged and ‘Electric
Girl’ was born.
Working in the studio with producer Alan Scott (Eliza Carthy,
Asian Dub Foundation) my song ‘Estonia Love’,
about infidelity in Estonia, became a full blown orchestral arrangement.
Alan described to me how the music made him imagine two people ballroom
dancing.
“At this time in Brighton the West Pier had
sadly been set fire to and the history of the pier was very much the
minds of local residents, some of whom maybe danced the night away
in bygone years. Either consciously or unconsciously the music in
this song captures nostalgia for long gone days.
“Enjoy ‘Live and In the Studio’
and make of it what you will. The beauty of music is that it weaves
the stories of all of our lives and unites us together.”
