Rachel: A Life In Music
“Nothing is unreachable, it is the journey that is most important…”Rachel Innes is a soulful artist who has emerged from a path that has taken many twists and turns. Her career began in the Cotswolds, UK. Studying ballet from the early age of five and then Classical piano some two years later. Rachel became a Cheltenham Festival cup winner at the age of eleven. She continued her dance education at Swindon Dance Studios and then won a scholarship to The London Studio Centre. Next, Rachel attended Chichester Institute of Higher Education. Dance performances, include Channel 4, The James Whale Show, and Solo Shows at: The Pavillion Theatre, Brighton, The Wyvern Theatre, Swindon and Bruge, Belgium. Rachel relocated to the USA in 1996 and studied voice under Chicago born voice teacher Michelle O' Connell. Performing in the USA Rachel developed her song craft as well as her four octave vocal range. Rachel's performances have been as diverse as: The Westerner Club, Salt Lake City, Utah, KUED Channel 11, Salt Lake City, Universal Studios, California, The Homestead Ski Resort, Utah, USA, The Cabana Jazz Club, Salt Lake City, USA, Alta Ski Resort, Utah USA, and Park City Utah USA. In 1999 Rachel released her debut CD "Open Face" - A ten track CD of original material written from the heart and featuring the drumming talents of Tony Korologos, who had previously produced the Californian artist Dante and Jayson Miller (jazz guitarist). "Open Face" was distributed on MP3.com and Kayco reached number 3 in the MP3.com charts. Returning to the UK in December 2001, Rachel toured with Nashville Artist Doug Hoekstra on his 2002 “Around the Margins Tour”. Live dates included: BBC Radio Scotland, 12-Bar Club, London, The Lemon Tree, Aberdeen, Concorde 2, Brighton (opening for Nashville Artist Chuck Prophet) and The Famous Bein Inn. Other live performances have included: The Borderline Club, London (with Doug Hoekstra: opening for Tim O'Brien) and The Sussex Arts Club, Brighton (opening for Nashville artist Eve Selis). Rachel recently completed an EP, “Independence”, with producer Alan Scott (Levellers, Oyster Band, Eliza McCarthy (2003 Mercury Prize Winner). Spring/Summer 2004 saw the release of Rachel's follow-up album “Live and in the Studio”. It includes brand new songs and live performances. A track from “Live and in the Studio” is also featured on a compilation CD released by VBM Music entitled “The Pop Inn: Session 1” which is due for release with Vital Distribution in September 2004.
